2025 Media Catchall Post, Second Quarter

Normally I don't like to do these until the last day of the month they get posted in, but I'm about to go out of town and liable to forget, so I'll post a few days early instead!

Music

Continuing to do songs of the week with my sister! Highlights this time include "I Know You Know Me" by Caroline Spence ft. Matt Berninger, "Built on Bones" by Emily Scott Robinson, "Pancakes for Dinner" by Lizzy McAlpine, and randomly one of those Epic Trailer Cover versions of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For." Plus, obviously, I did the symphony project, so that whole thing happened, but there's a whole post about that so I won't get into my favorites and least favorites again!

Movies

Two! Though one of them was short enough I'd usually count it an episode of something except that it stood alone, so whatever that is. Anyway, that one is The Quilters, a documentary on Netflix about a prison in I believe Missouri where the inmates have a program where they so quilts for children in the foster system in their area. It could have dealt with some more length just to engage a bit more with some things, but overall I think it did what it wanted to. And then I finally watched Titan A.E., animated sci fi that for sure was not originally written for children! It's a weird movie and I enjoyed it a bunch.

TV Shows

Finished watching the seasons of various network shows I was watching, to start. Abbott Elementary (might be my last season watching that, I'm kind of worn out on it), 9-1-1 (it sure did. make some choices in the second half of the season. We'll see if it can right the ship in s9!), and Doctor Odyssey (wore a little thin by doing a love triangle instead of polyamory shenanigans, but not so thin that I'm not sad that it's probably not returning to us, alas) all finished up some weeks back now. I also watched some Antiques Roadshow, and will do more, I'm not through the flashback episodes for the season yet. My watch of Elementary continues as well, midway through s2 on that. And then I watched several complete seasons of things! The Residence on Netflix, (a very fun mystery where I winced at the attempts at politics, which is unfortunate in a mystery set in the White House), The Pitt (annoyingly as good as everyone says but Warnings For Everything), High Potential (it's fine? I'll probably watch s2?), Leverage: Redemption s3 (I quite liked it! Better than the first two seasons, I think?), and Devil in the Family (a documentary about Ruby Franke, it was quite harrowing). And presently I'm halfway through the most recent season of Somebody Feed Phil, which is sweet despite the wife humor.

Other

Watching the new season of Game Changer, and the current season of Taskmaster! Keeping up with a few of my sewing video makers and a few other creators on YouTube, but keep not having the brain space to get stuck into any of the longer things that I want to, alas.

D&D

I left you right when our paladin got sainted! We had to take a couple episodes to play out the ramifications of that, of course. We did another round of solo adventures (the warlock explored a ruin of a wizard's keep to get some technology for a construct who needed it, with escape room vibes that went pretty well, and then the paladin dealt with a forest fire in the Feywild, which went less well, sorry paladin), and I feel like I am forgetting something, but most recently we got to do a kind of fun cinematic thing? The warlock and the fighter went to the Nine Hells for an academic conference about aliens (I do what I want) where they could keep an eye on a potential antagonist, and the paladin started removing repeated Modify Memories from an ally who had them put on her by the antagonist who then was no longer potential. And then I got to do a fun thing where everyone was in intiative and the two in the Hells were having a skill challenge stealing something from the antagonist and the paladin and the ally got to fight a dreamscape monster! One of my more successful sessions, I think. And now we're playing out some consequences for that!

Creative Projects

Finally finished my edit! Already have some things in mind for the next round, but definitely less structural work on the next one, phew. Then I wrote a Tortall fic, I love doing Tortall rarepairs and playing with politics, it's so fun. Now I am writing a 9-1-1 fic! And probably will be alternating the two all summer or until something else original tugs at my attention. Sewing-wise, the Tortall map continues slowly, but it continues nonetheless! And I made two blouses, which turned out quite well, I think.

Things I'm Looking Forward To

Sewing-wise, a friend of mine had a baby recently, and I made the first baby a stuffed animal so I want to do that with number two as well! Other than that, not sure, I have a couple mock-ups I want to sew, and a couple fabrics I want to get before they go fully out of stock so I should do something with some larger lengths I have to make room for them. We'll see! Writing-wise, I said above. As for things to watch, I'm not sure? Nothing's super been grabbing me, but given I'm still needing lots of competence and don't mind some soapiness with it, maybe I'll find some more medical dramas thanks to The Pitt? We'll see.
