Title: A Council of Queens
Wordcount: ~3300
Warnings: Arthur's death and the grief from it are a theme throughout, and the fic also glances over other character death, as well as past mind control in the form of Vivian's love spell.
Summary: Mithian returns to Camelot to work towards Albion's future, and finds herself working through her own and others' complicated history with Camelot.
A/N: I have had this fic in mind pretty much since canon closed, and I am relieved I finally got it written! It is for the "futurefic" square on my Trope Bingo card.
Disclaimer: I do not own Merlin.

You can read the fic on the AO3.

Title: The Sun Hasn't Died
Wordcount: ~10,800
Warnings: past character death, mentions of violence and rioting and other consequences of the apocalypse
Summary: You have to figure out how to survive somehow, after the world ends. Elena does it by stealing horses and roaming, at least until she finds the village of Camelot and its residents, especially its librarian.
A/N: Written for the free space on my Trope Bingo card and because Emjayelle prompted an Elena/Mithian apocalypse AU on tumblr. I restrained myself from putting novels worth of backstory and minor character interaction into this, you should be grateful. Title from "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons.
Disclaimer: I do not own Merlin.

Read it over on the AO3: ... if there's nobody around to appreciate her cleverness, well. Elena always did better on her own anyway.

Title: Scrubbing Out the Stains
Wordcount: ~3,500
Warnings: 5x13 spoilers, in case anyone has not yet seen: this is an afterlife fic, thus this fic comes with warnings for major character death and grief It's mostly gen but pairings include past Arthur/Gwen and Merlin/Freya and some Arthur/Merlin if you squint
Summary: Arthur wakes on the isle of Avalon, where he learns from its lady about his past and future.
A/N: The Arthur-POV fic for the four post-canon fics I'm writing (which are not necessarily congruent, for those who may be confused or not wanting to pick up a series in the middle). A lot of it comes from my life for Arthur&Freya in fics. Title is from Regina Spektor's "Open."
Disclaimer: I do not own Merlin.

People want to see you, but you must be well first. )

Title: Every Story is a Love Story
Wordcount: ~24,600
Summary: Camelot Publishing publishes romance novels, and when Arthur founds a new imprint of gay romance and invites his best friend and pet writer Merlin to write for it, it's a bit too easy to miss the fact that apparently he's living in one.
A/N: Written for this prompt at the meme (and seriously, do you leave these prompts out as Nell-bait or something?). Title is a song title from Aida: the Musical. The publishing industry has been shamelessly abused for literary purposes.
Disclaimer: I do not own Merlin.

Part Two | Part Three

Title: But It's a Good Refrain
Wordcount: ~23,000
Summary: Arthur doesn't care much about the popular radio program Dragon's Lonely Hearts until his ex-girlfriend calls in to slag him off and get advice. When he calls in and has an on-air argument with the host, it starts off more than he expected, including meddling friends, overinvolved fans, and maybe love.
A/N: Written for this prompt at kinkme_merlin. Title from Regina Spektor's "On the Radio."

Part Two | Part Three

Title: Words That I Can't Say
Wordcount: ~8,100
Summary: Elena's got a massive crush on her politics TA, and Mithian's doing absolutely nothing to discourage it.
A/N: Title from "I Owe You a Love Song" by Shiny Toy Guns, set in the same 'verse as I Owe You a Love Song and A World of Make-Believe. It should make sense as a standalone, but you might want to read Owe You a Love Song for context. For the moment, this is the last story in this 'verse.
Disclaimer: I do not own Merlin.

I think I may have to marry Mithian Fitzroy. )
lady_ragnell: (Default)
Title: I Owe You a Love Song
Wordcount: ~10,200
Warning: character spoiler for 4x11
Summary: In which Arthur's courting Gwen by mix CD (and other means) and Merlin is a backwards Cyrano de Bergerac who builds robots.
A/N: So I've had the idea for this fic for ages, and I decided to write it for the holiday season for all of you to enjoy. I should say that all musical artists who are mocked are mocked with love since all of them are in my music library. All music links go to YouTube (my internet, alas, is too slow to make a fanmix for all of you). Title from Shiny Toy Guns, "I Owe You a Love Song." Further notes at the end of the fic. Let me know if any of my links are borked, there were a lot of them!
Disclaimer: I do not own Merlin, nor do I own any of the music, videos, or webcomics used in this story.

The only thing that would be too much too soon is Celine Dion )

So, I have been scattering comment fic and ficlets all over the internet recently and thought I should have a bit of a round-up repost below.

First, some ficlets I wrote for [ profile] glomp_fest 's Glomp Gifts thing.

Balinor/Hunith preseries, PG, 472 words, written for [ profile] jungle_ride

* )

Leon/Morgana (and various other pairings) modern AU, PG, 476 words, written for [ profile] wanderhomeagain

* )

Elena/Vivian modern AU, PG, 359 words, written for [ profile] leashy_bebes

* )

Xena: Warrior Princess, Xena/Gabrielle canon-ish, PG, 515 words, written for [ profile] dreamer_98

* )

I also wrote a ficlet for the Magical Reveal Meme.

Arthur/Merlin preslash, PG, ~1400 words.

* )

I also wrote three little ficlets for the Three-Sentence Ficathon, all under the same cut for ease's sake, all PG.

* )

And finally, I seem to be getting into the habit of writing notfic at my Tumblr. I won't repost the text here (and probably won't mention them here after this, but I thought I'd let you know that it's a thing that is happening), but I will link you to the two I've written so far: Freya/Gwaine and Elena/Mithian (I seem to have fallen hard for this ship, you guys. Expect it to start popping up).

Title: The Hardest Way Possible
Wordcount: ~12,500
Summary: Merlin's addicted to Craigslist, Arthur's looking for love in all the wrong places, and with a little help from their friends, they manage to get it together.
A/N: This started as a little palate cleanser after the Feast of Angst that this journal has been lately, and then sort of ... grew. Some Arthur/Others and Merlin/Others, but ... have faith in the endgame. Title by the Rustic Overtones.
Disclaimer: I do not own Merlin.

Part One )

Part Two

Title: Fix the Twist in You
Wordcount: ~2200
Summary: The longer Merlin's lies go on, the harder Arthur finds it to trust him.
A/N: Um, this one got long, so I am splitting it off into numbered points. Sorry, I know you are here for the fic, skip if you wish.
1. For this variation-of-a-prompt on the meme. I did not see what it was a variation of until too late, alas.
2. If you are looking for my usual Daily Dose Of Candyfloss ... this is not it. Just to warn you.
3. Title from "All the Same" by the Sick Puppies. And normally I do not talk about the music I take my titles from, but I have been looking for an excuse to use this title forever, because, Merlin fandom, we need to talk about this song and why there are not A MILLION Arthur-POV fanvids to it. Seriously, go listen to the song. Or just read the lyrics. It is unquestionably my Arthur-knows-about-Merlin's-magic theme song.
4. This came out of head-canon that I started playing with throughout s3 when I got pissed about Arthur and his throwing things and generally treating Merlin horribly (along with my long-held head-canon that Arthur has known about Merlin since s1, because HOW COULD HE NOT), and became characterization for an Epic Reincarnation Fic That I Do Not Have Time To Write. For the curious, "Like the Tide Pulls Me Under" comes from this same head-canon universe.
Disclaimer: I do not own Merlin.

So this is what Merlin looks like when he lies. )

Title: If That Wasn't Bad Enough
Wordcount: ~6,000w (what. I just. This 'verse makes me wordy, apparently.)
Summary: Gwaine may not have groceries telling him what to do, but he does have a story.
A/N: If you haven't already read A Metaphor of Human Bloody Existence (link goes to first part), this is not going to make sense to you, because it's Gwaine's POV of the Gwaine/Freya subplot that would not leave me alone (I am still not sure how it ended up in there, but they would not leave me alone, thus you get this). Title is from the same Pratchett quote "Metaphor"'s title came from.
Disclaimer: I do not own Merlin.

Gwaine is writing a theoretical travel guide. )
lady_ragnell: (Default)
Title: A Metaphor of Human Bloody Existence
Wordcount: ~19,500 (good heavens)
Summary: In which Merlin and Arthur (and others) band together to fight evil on the advice of a can of peas.
A/N: Inspired by this kinkme_merlin prompt. Title from Terry Pratchett's "Guards! Guards!" It's ... there is really no excuse for this, and it is half the length it potentially could have been (so there might be deleted scenes at some later date if I am so inclined, especially because Gwaine and Freya insisted on sort of shipping themselves and I didn't get to explore it as much as I wanted ...). But I had fun writing it, so I hope you have fun reading it.
Disclaimer: I do not own Merlin.

Part Three

Title: Drugstore Flowers
Wordcount: Around 5k
Summary: Merlin starts to receive lovely gifts (and less-lovely flowers) from a secret admirer.
A/N: Written for this prompt at [ profile] kinkme_merlin . Quotes, in order, are from:
1. Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night"
2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode "Lover's Walk"
3. W.H. Auden's "Lullaby"
4. The Beatles' "Golden Slumbers"
5. Robert Louis Stevenson's "Winter-time"

I am pondering doing a short Arthur-POV prequel for this at some point. Interest?
Disclaimer: I do not own Merlin.

Roses are red, violets are blue. )

There is now a prequel to this fic, which can be found here.

Title: Till the End of Today
Summary: How do you spend the last day of the world? Also known as The One Where Merlin Prevents the Apocalypse Because He Wants to Go Out for Dinner.
A/N: Title and end quote from "Song for the Road," by David Ford, which you should all go listen to instantly because it's amazing. For this kinkme_merlin prompt, because I was in the mood to blow up the world and fic is an excellent way of doing that: Early in the morning, the news being broadcast internationally is that the world will end that very same day. Arthur's partner, upon hearing this news, breaks up with him and leaves. Arthur roams the streets, while everyone's in a panic, depressed at the idea of spending the last day of his life alone, until he comes across a stranger named Merlin, whom he asks, "will you spend the rest of your life with me?"

Title: Don't Go Breaking My Heart
Summary: Arthur sucks at relationships, and Merlin's sick of it.
A/N: Title is Elton John's (I couldn't resist). Not sure how pleased with it I am, but there were egregious typos when I posted anon and I must fix them, so it's being de-anoned anyway. For this kinkme_merlin prompt: Merlin stays single throughout Arthur's many relationships and always picks up the pieces when they fail. Bonus points for an angry Merlin, when yet another relationship fails, telling Arthur to get his act together. Even more bonus points for Arthur getting his act together with Merlin.
Disclaimer: I do not own Merlin

Sometimes, when he's at his most uncharitable, Merlin thinks Arthur likes having his heart broken. )
lady_ragnell: (Default)
Title: If We Have That in Common
Summary: Uther lends Morgana an umbrella, and later she gives it back.
A/N: My first attempt at writing this pairing, and like everything else I write, it came out ridiculously fluffy. Glancing references to A/M, but mostly Uther/Morgana so they aren't in the pairing list. Title from "Small Umbrella in the Rain" from Little Women: The Musical. For this kinkme_merlin prompt: Modern AU, based on this pic (no spoilers):

Main points: Under an umbrella, laughing and being lovely

Disclaimer: I do not own Merlin.

The only reason it happens is because Uther chose his least favorite umbrella before going out that morning. )

Title: Dedication
Summary: In which Merlin and Morgana have a lot of sex, but Merlin falls in love with Arthur anyway.
A/N: From this kinkme_merlin prompt: Merlin is a first-time author hoping to get published, but his publisher tells him he needs more "real life experience" (ie. have sex with a woman) because the book requires more romance. Merlin meets Morgana and decides to seduce her. He also meets Arthur, who knows exactly what's going on. Merlin ends up getting the "experience" from Morgana, but winds up getting the romance from Arthur.
Disclaimer: I do not own Merlin. And "Too loud, very unseemly" belongs to The Great Joss Whedon.

Gwen! My editor wants me to have sex with a woman! )
