This year, to my very great relief, was much better than last year where writing was concerned! Some very unexpected diversions, and the massive commitment level of my autumn musical theater work, mean that I didn't get some of the original projects I wanted to do started, let alone finished, but I always have big expectations I know I can't live up to, so I'm doing a better job than I sometimes do of being forgiving of myself for all of that.

Popping in a cut since this is my third post of the day. )

This was a really rough year for writing! Which I feel ridiculous saying, because you'll see as I go through that I wrote what most people would probably consider a successful amount of things, but it didn't feel successful. Going into my third year of pandemic really shot my attention span and focus, I think. I'm hoping, as I always do, that 2023 will treat me more kindly on that front, but I suppose we'll have to see how it goes!

Not a super long post, but figured I should cut it short anyway! )

This hasn't been my best writing year for sure, but I did do some decent work, and I can't blame myself for it too much, in year two of the pandemic! As usual, I'll split my writing into three categories and talk about how all of them went over 2021, and then say a bit about 2022 plans and goals.

A bit about recaps and fanfic, a lot about original work and what's coming up! )

As I was mentioning in my catchall media post, it's been a creative year for me! I've learned some new skills and practiced other skills--did lots of art (including discovering that drawing fantasy maps is an absolute delight), did [redacted], sewed some holiday projects. I've got lots of creative goals this coming year, but I'll talk about that more at the end of this post. This is all about celebrating what I've done so far, and writing aside, I've done a whole lot, despite (and in some cases even because of) it being an absolutely dreadful year for humanity and for me.

Last year, I split my writing up into three categories, and I'm going to do the same again, for ease of reference.
Surprise, surprise, I got a little wordy. )

I did a lot of creativity in 2019 (I made so much art, you guys! I still wouldn't call myself great at it, but I made it, and I am improving, and that is what matters, becaus being good at everything is not the goal. And I wrote a song or two, which is a lot for me, I am the world's slowest composer), but I am specifically going to do a writing wrap-up first because I think it's what most people who happen to read this journal would be interested in and second because it's easier to talk about and find statistics for!

My writing this year fell into three loose categories, so I'll split it up into those categories for ease of discussion!

I thought I'd get away with not needing a cut on this one, but I started rambling in the original fiction section. )

So! That is my 2019 writing recap! I have had people mention being interested in my writing and my process and me talking about it here once in a while but I really have no idea how to do that, so I leave those questions up to you to ask or not ask, as you desire.
